Giving birth is a unique journey for each person. Standardizing maternal health care doesn’t make it safer. 

Something is definitely lost. 

At SHINE, we’re down with the revolution!
This week, I'm excited to return home to Hawaii to attend the 2026 Hawaii Midwifery Gathering in Hilo!

Having met midwives, attended births, and achieved licensure in some other states, I've gained more appreciation for the special midwifery culture
In an ecosystem, birth is a community event. Everyone welcomes the child and supports the birthing mother and family. 💝

In a hierarchical society, the mother is separated from her friends and family, and all her questions and expectations directed
